Exactly as it says on the tin.
Is it possible to set up more than one vm-pool with each one dedicated to specific sets of qubes and templates?
For example, I might set one SSD for all my regular apps and another SSD for storing all my media files like movies and music or ZM files for accessing with Kiwix.
Yes, thats possible. I use such a setup with an pool on a ssd for live qubes and a pool on a hdd for archives and mass storage.
You can find some infos here:
There are some changes in the new version 4.3, for example, you can during creation of a qube decide, on which pool they should be created.
Before, it was possible in terminal only.
More specifically, I have three storage devices and my current plans are…
OS Drive in a 1TB M.2 NGFF SSD with Qubes installed in a 128 or 256GB root partition.
My main VM-Pool in a 1TB partition in a 2TB SATA SSD
A secondary VM-Pool in 1.5TB partition in a second 2TB SATA SSD, dedicated for housing IIAB software and content.
I basically plan to have a Qubes daily driver with an IIAB library that’s easy to access whenever I’m unable to access online. Originally, I wanted to pair the two 2TB SSD’s in a RAID1 array (with 1 TB vm-pool partition) until I found out the amount of IIAB content I want exceeds 1TB so I’m making a compromise here.
