I like qubes method of security but im not very technical and i dont have good hardware. also i think my threat level is just one step below the average qubes user
people say i should have a user friendly distro but i still like qubes’ isolation

Qubes runs on a type 1 hypervisor, Xen, which is not a Linux distro. You can certainly benefit from a user friendly Linux distro, but it will not be able to deliver the isolation offered by Qubes. If you can afford additional hardware, I’d encourage you to play around with both, and if cost is a barrier, Raspberry Pi OS is available on very cheap hardware.

I agree easier GUI is important. It is unfortunate window system itself is a source of risk. I hope transition to wayland gets to certain state soon and flexibility of desktop/window-manager and other GUI-related things become easier for development.
On the other hand, the performance of the PC is more quickly improving than OS getting heavier. I think Qubes OS itself is also slashing inefficiency.
I am planning to find some user friendly configurations from the side of the users. Of course, this is for specific interest of the business. Another reason is the cross point I mentioned above.
I believe we are in a time of change. Please check Qubes OS time to time!

You dont say in what way you dont have “good” hardware. I know user
running Qubes with low memory on 15 year old laptops.
You dont need to be technical to use Qubes. I know people with
zero technical skills who use it successfully. It’s a complete myth
that Qubes requires technical skills - unfortunately often repeated by
Qubes users.
Make a start. Check out the Documentation, try out the system and see
what it can do for you. If you hit problems, see if its in the
documentation; if not, ask here. Once you’re happy, reinstall and start
using it in earnest.
You dont say what you want to use Qubes for, or what you want to do.
Some things are difficult, some impossible (some Gaming).It’s up to you
to determine what trade offs are acceptable to you.

Which user and what verison do they run? and have they made any guides?
I want to play games (some torrented from shady sources, some my own copies) but i think the hardest thing would be blender and coding (i havent picked a program yet)

Your Qubes OS experience won’t be very good with that device, unless you intend to run only a few VMs in parallel and can live with the performance impact.
Won’t be possible. Either get a more powerful device and invest time in learning and using Qubes OS or go with something like Secureblue, which won’t t be close to Qubes OS, but at least a bit better, than your average distro.
You can still use VMs in case of the latter, but the Isolation security will depend on the VMM, virtual devices and the configuration. It will be less convenient and more prone to accidental misconfiguration.
Do you have a second graphics card which you could pass-through to a gaming VM?

No.
Your hardware is very weak, so I recommend using containers instead of virtual machines - for example, Distrobox containers with different Linux distributions. You could use Kicksecure or Secureblue as your host and run containers inside them (there are several GUI apps for Distrobox on Flathub). I did it on a very weak laptop, with Fedora, Ubuntu, and Arch containers, and it worked well.But Kicksecure - and Secureblue especially - are more complicated than Qubes OS. You may laugh, but Qubes is one of the easiest operating systems to use. Arch, Nix, and Secureblue are much harder for beginners.

i thought qubes would be harder its not mint but its not secureblue
i tried secureblue and it wouldnt boot and when i got it working i realized it got it without gui lol
