Can we get Qubes OS Software Support for Linux Spatial Computing

Apple Vision Pro evil walled Garden. Google Android XR evil closed source.

Linux Spatial Computing is now out! https://simulavr.com/

I want to run Qubes OS on this Linux Vision Pro gear. That way I can take my QubesOS install with me anywhere. As more companies provide hardware for Linux Spatial Computing, I want to know that I can take Qubes OS on multiple screens out in the wild without anyone peaking at what I’m doing. Qubes OS laptop support is so last decade. Lets hope Linux doesn’t miss out on the next decade.

That looks cool

And what do you think, how it’s supposed to happen?

  • if the hardware vendor want’s to have Qubes Support on their products, they should - at least - provide such hardware for some testers. Those testers might then can provide feedback for boot to the hardware vendor and the development team. Still the Qubes OS development team needs to adopt if needed… which might requires resources to do so.
  • If it’s only you who actually want’s to have Qubes OS support, then you should provide such feedback… as a very first step.

The same goes here… who is actually providing ‘sample’ machines from the newest models? Yes, nearly nobody.

So Qubes OS - and every community developed/supported OS out there - can only rely on their members and the hardware they have access to.

(Let alone the kernel, and xen relevant hardware support, which is upstream, means Qubes OS mainly/only depending on those)

If you have time and can afford it, why not try to port it? The hardware looks like it might work. See if you can get Fedora running with its spatial gui. Fedora, and thus qubes-os, will eventually move to wayland, so might as well target that.
