As the title says Can Qubes Os Be Install in a RDP to be use fir everyday work i rather use rdp.
there is sys-gui-vnc to access an administration qube (in which you can start / display qubes) from VNC, you will need to secure the VNC access to your needs, a VPN can do the trick for instance.
yes but how about a regular RDP can i download Qubes Os inside of a rdp i log in remotly
@iceage2025, are we correct in assuming that when you say “RDP”, you mean this?
You can’t really install anything inside a list of instructions for how two parties communicate (protocol), hence why @solene said that you can install Qubes OS somewhere, and then interact with the installation remotely via the VNC protocol.
If you mean a dedicated remote server that you can connect to using the RDP protocol, then no (unless you’d like to source, provision and set up an RDP server yourself on your own Qubes OS installation).
You can, however, set up a qube on your Qubes OS installation called sys-gui-vnc
. The Qubes devs have worked hard on automating the installation, and this will allow you to remotely connect to your Qubes OS machine using the VNC protocol:
But remember, Qubes OS still needs to be installed and running somewhere.
Either a computer you own, or a computer someone else owns and is letting you run Qubes OS (remotely).
If you choose to virtualize the computer running Qubes OS (e.g. by getting a cloud provider to host it for you), be prepared to either encounter a lot of “killer features” of Qubes OS either not behaving as expected, or simply not working at all.
Qubes OS was never really designed to be virtualized.
I hope this answers your question.
The question does not make any sense… Maybe he wants to install it in a VPS, to which he connects with RDP but this is just guessing…
But regarding VNC to Qubes, isn’t VNC not insecure as hell?
VNC is insecure but it’s fine if wrapped properly in a SSH tunnel or, like solene suggested, a VPN you manage.
