Autodimming and Autowaking of Keyboard Backlight

Problem:
Keyboard backlight stays on 24/7 and never turns off, even if the screen is locked and the screen backlight is off.

Does anyone have any experience successfully configuring the keyboard backlight to autodim and turn off when the screen is locked and to reawake upon the next keystrokes?

It would be useful to know more about your machine. Is it a usb or ps2 keyboard? Are you using an Asus laptop by any chance?
