After trying to, inside a Work-clone, installing a Brother MFC-printer with the corresponding ppd files, intending to work over WiFi as all other qubes can, and having including starting CUPS and cups.socket and been abled to reach Add printer and finally the Describe Printer window with all printer information correct and earlier set the User and Password, the clicking on the last Apply continuously results in the small Authentication window asking for a new User and PW input. And although I find the User name and PW in correspondence with what is earlier set, the responses are a new ask for Authentication. Meaning that my settings of PW is lost in some way. Have anybody had the same problem or a suggestion?
Could you please describe in more detail what you did exactly? Preferably step by step.
It’s “usually” as simple as this:
- install
cups
in the template for your printing qube. - add the
cups
service to the qube settings (GUI → Qube Manager → printing qube’s Settings → 6th tab) – this will allow printing requests within that qube; alternative way would be from within dom0 terminalqvm-service --enable <printing qube> cups
. - (re)start that qube and run
system-config-printer
and do your setup.
IIRC, this was all I had to do the last time I added a WiFi printer.

Tank you OvalZero for your rapid and hopeful guidance!
I will try it at once
Tank’s again. Your suggestion made me program accordingly and changed some things and got the wanted functionality with printing over WiFi and the PW problems got solved.

Thanks for the final reply. Please mark my above post as “solution”. Things are easier to find that way.
