Anon-vm tag has to be added on creation of a new Whonix VM

You are awesome. I am sure that other Qubes developers are working hard too, but it’s nice to see the progress being made in threads like this.

I have a bug report that you could surely fix. (I am not on Github).

To reproduce:

  1. Create a standalone Whonix-Workstation-17 VM with sys-whonix as the NetVM
  2. Start the VM
  3. Error notifications appear, Denied whonix.NewStatus+status

This is because the VM lacks the anon-vm tag, it has to be added on creation of the VM but it is not. Adding it manually solves this problem.

Thanks. I am just an ordinary users like others, focusing on smaller easier to solve issues.

Now that I am looking, both anon-whonix & whonix-workstation-dvm are tagged as anon-vm based on their sls files during the installation. So I assume that even if it was a new AppVM rather Standalone, the same error might have occurred. I have to investigate the policy files to see what is happening there.

p.s.: I hope one of the moderators could spawn this reply and the OP to a new forum thread. So we could easily work on it.

From experience it only happens with Standalones, and not templates, AppVMs or disposables. Could you reproduce it?

I was travelling recently and did not spend much time on pending issues. Hopefully will work on them soon.
