Anon-timezone doesnt work for me

I set anon-timezone for a custom service in my appvm settings… restarted it… checked the timezone and it shows my real timezone… what do I need to do to make it work??? it checked obviously

Precise what do you means saying ‘custom service in appvm’ and ‘set timezone’.

you can read it here… GitHub · Where software is built

I don’t understand.
You are asking about time zone leak or time zone set?

wtf…

It’s a non-“service” kind of “feature”, enabled using

$ qvm-features VMNAME anon-timezone 1

It requires Qubes OS R4.3+.

You have to bear in mind that some folk here will not consult GitHub and
are not able to see the issue you linked.
In any case, it would be helpful to know which version of Qubes you are
using, and which template was involved.

yeah I can confirm it says service.anon-timezone 1 for my appvm… but the timezone in the appvm is my real timezone…

and how am I suppose to know that exactly??? if they can’t do something they should say so…

I use the latest version of everything… so the Qubes version is 4.3… the template is debian 13 minimal with latest updates and morphed to kicksecure…

also… the whonix template/appvm… whatever… the disposable thing is also leaking my real timezone…
the that disposable doesn’t have anon-timezone by default… WHY???

That is the problem. A service is a feature that lives in the service. namespace. You need to enable the “plain” feature that is not prefixed by this namespace, via qvm-features.

finally… much appreciate it!
I was so positive it’s the same thing as adding a service…

you think I didnt read the issue I was posting or wtf???

It’s reopened because of this comment, I think. You’re talking about a
WHONIX template, and adrelanos takes responsibility for them.

It’s been much discussed here by people concerned about privacy, as you
are. And you could be more tolerant.
