Has anyone gotten successful passthrough with this card? I’ve looked in the forum and found some topics but no yes/no confirmation.
(and if yes, can you use the full memory and with what driver/etc.)
Please share. Thanks.in advance.

Hello. Yes, it just works… passthrough work on gnu/linux standalone qubes, and you can plug an external monitor too. Windows is another thing, the GPU is detected, and works, but external monitors don’t get any output, so you can run heavy tasks on windows but without external monitors limit use cases (like gaming), you can try proton via steam to game on gnu/linux VMs.
to get it working read the following article: https://forum.qubes-os.org/t/create-a-gaming-hvm/19000
Thanks a lot!
Do you think it’s worth it compared to a 3090? What’s the performance like, close to native?
Btw did you have to extract the vbios and provide it as a rom?
If you have a 3090, then passthrough should be easier and windows external monitors work without any extra effort, I have a 4070ti and runs smoothly on windows HVMs, if i recall correctly the rx7900xtx performs more like a 4080 but with more vram, anyway if you want to passthrough on windows, better to get an nvidia card.
You may see a slight performance drop, but nothing too serious. ( from my experience)
you should not have any issues with any type of card if they are being black listed from dom0 and passing them through to the vm. I have had set up with both nvidia and amd cards running in windows and linux vms without an issue.
