Installed Qubes OS 4.2.4 the other day and all went fine after adding the “nomodeset” flag during boot and later in GRUB config.
Yesterday I did a “dom0 update” using the “update button” in the panel (upper right corner)
This update came back successful.
After this I was not able to boot successfully, the system showed an error like “unable to start Light Display Manager”.
freeze
I rebooted and tried different kernels and here is what I got as results:
- Xen 4.17.5 and Linux 6.15.10-1 fc37 x86_64 - boot failure
- Xen 4.17.5 and Linux 6.12.54-1 fc37 x86_64 - boot failure
- Xen 4.17.5 and Linux 6.6.77-1 fc37 x86_64 - boot all good
Unfortunately I don’t know what my last successful kernel was before installing the update.
Please advise. Am I supposed to stay with kernel 6.6?
What about future updates?
