Adding Kali Purple Tools to a Tails OS VM

As stated in the title I made a Qube for Tails OS with the goal to get as close to the usb way of doing it but yes I am aware its less secure than the usb version. I got the Tails Qube running well…I think lol. The next bit was trying to get the tools from kali purple on that Tails qube for some testing and fun. issue is it keeps fighting and no amount of googling will help. That repo isnt in the source list. okie dokie ill add it. needs signed. okay ill do that too. still no go…While im not new to linux i am new qubes and i am new to adding repos to the sourse list. never messed with that. Any help or advice would be great.

I don’t mean to sound condescending, but why do all this (Tails Qube, morphing into Kali, etc, etc, etc)?

There’s both Whonix and Kali templates, and you can certainly extend the built-in Whonix Workstation template with pentesting tools. You can also make it disposable.

i didnt see a kali template for one. two it was for practice making qubes and related activities. trying to learn qubes os better. and im cool with using the whoix template(although im still learning about whoix) and adding tools to it. part of the reason for using kali purple tools is just i thought that would be a quick and easy way to manage and update all of them with that source. im not dead set on anything. if theres a better way by all means please tell me. just looking for a disposable qube similar to using tails on a usb with a easy to manage and update set of cybersecurity tools that i can learn and test with.

My suggestion is to stick to Qubes OS defaults and learn how to use them better and extensively. If you are worried about forensics, Tails OS on a USB stick might be better than Qubes OS. If you are worried about security, you need to understand how Qubes achieves that by compartmentalization. When trying to install a new repo, start by doing it in a regular Debian template.

If you’re just looking to play around with security tools in a disposable Qube and don’t need anonymity, there’s a Kali template in the 3isec template repo:

kali-core 0:4.3.0-202602070337 3isec-templates

https://qubes.3isec.org/Templates_4.3/

I think ill try this and go from there. no clue how to use that template yet as im still very new to qubes but i can always give it a go. thanks. sorry for the silly questions.

Don’t worry, that’s not a silly question, it is normal to get lost sometimes.
