Access Denied using Qubes on more and more website

I’m getting more and more of this using Qubes OS with FireFox (No modification to FireFox original options)

Access Denied

You don’t have permission to access “http://xyz.com/userfailover.html?” on this server.

While Shopify, vising different website and now even banking. I’m reaching the point where I cannot use Qubes OS anymore if I don’t find a solution.

Anyone has an idea of how to fix this?

Thanks!

My bet is you are making a story up.

If it is truly an issue you encounter, show us a test request.

What the hell?

I love Qubes OS it’s my main OS since years.

Not answering that anymore.

Does it occur if you connect from a different IP?

p.s. preferably from a different provider as well, not just a different dynamic ip

What netvm are you using? Do you connect to a VPN? Are you accessing web via whonix? I don’t think it is a qubesos issue but rather the way you are accessing the internet. Many pages are filtering VPN IPs, which I also encounter from time to time.

Hi otter2,

It happens from 1 OR different App Qubes, sometimes starting on one and spreading to another.

Switching to another OS with the same IP address will not trigger the same problem and using the same Qubes OS at another place (another IP) will still trigger the same problem.

Those App Qubes are using default sys-firewal & sys-net.

What’s the difference between “good” and “bad” qubes/OSes? Perhaps some extensions or strict browser config are breaking websites?

Maybe problem in GPU. Qubes currently supports software rendering only. Which one you can see in browser. gpu: Mesa llvmpipe. You can check it here CreepJS.

You can try to use GitHub - adryfish/fingerprint-chromium: An open source fingerprint browser based on Ungoogled Chromium. 指纹浏览器 隐私浏览器 · GitHub for send fake fingerprint to websites.

No real difference as far as I know. Once shopping online on a mainstream site, I got this error so I switched to another App Qube, and it worked a couples of minutes. After 2 or 3 refresh it was also blocked.

I really don’t understand the situation especially that I’m not testing anything on those AppVM, just doing my regular stuff.

Thank you todox,

I get this: “Mesa llvmpipe, or similar”.

On today’s blocked website, it seems that I am not blocked on Chromium while I’m blocked on FireFox. I have stopped using Chromium as I had some glitch with printing since Fedora 42. Might be time to try a fresh install of the RC1 I guess…

I disabled the 2 extensions that I’m using, reboot the Qubes and it’s not the extension at least…

Disabling extensions might not be enough for more sophisticated cases, instead try to create a fresh firefox acccount. Rebooting Qubes shouldn’t do anything in your case, something about your web-facing setup flags you as naughty. It is hard to tell what exactly without troubleshooting, and I’m not knowledgeable enough to tell. Seek help among scrapers they know how to get around things like that. Things like @todox’s chromium suggestion might help

i do all this stuff in qubes I am surprised your having a problem. Like others have said I don’t think the problems are on the level you think they are.

that said if I run into anything Ill post it here first.

I know I’m confused as well but I’m also using Qubes OS since couples of years. Altough I used to browse the web with Chromium.

I think its like most other people have said it’s something down stream of qubes. I know your sorta doxing your self but what country do you live in. Is it some new gov crap. or maybe just your VPN got caught up in some garbage.

I am setting up an e-commerce site right now and I know it was a high concern just to find a server that didn’t have a black mark for our e-mail server.

Hello @Qubicon ,

Can it be that there is some problem in the template you use for your app qubes? For example, if you ever used it online, or even only launched the browser in it…

Maybe try to download a new template, and use it exactly as it is installed for your app qubes, except allow it to update.

If you like Chromium, you can try Brave browser. There are several guides on this Forum describing how to create a minimal template with Brave, which you can then use for browsing qubes and disposables.
Works for me.
