It has been going on for years, and not getting any better. In fact, if anything, I reckon it’s getting worser and worser whenever I try to search Kmart or Target or Big-W or Gumtree AU. It seems to be a localised kind of facism because Gumtree UK and Kmart in Texico can tell the difference between Qubes and a so-called “malicious 'bot” whatever that’s supposed to mean. ('bots don’t do malice)
It’s just Australians who are a bit loathe to be publically identified as reasonable towards diversity when it comes to operating systems and security. This is very frustrating because every time I need to access those anti-social but commercially seductive websites, I have to shutdown everything else that’s going on in Qubes and start an unprotected Debian session, and it shouldn’t have to be this way! I’m not a bot! Just another shopper.
I have seen a couple of similar threads in the obligatory preliminary search, but no answers to one and the other has either died or gone to hidden, but what I want to know is, has anyone else ever had ACCESS DENIED messages on websites when running Firefox in Qubes, and what can I do about it? … besides use Debian, which messes with my multitasking.
For the details, I don’t admit third-party cookies but begrudgingly tolerate them from the same domain, and this configuration is the same for both Firefox in Debian/Mint as well as Qubes’ Debian VMs, so it must be something else they’re apartheiding us over … possibly the VM usage, or firewall, I don’t know, but it seems to be something beyond the standard Firefox settings.

Accessing kmart.com from Australia, and gumtree.co.uk as well as mentioned above, has always been the way Sir Timothy Berners-Lee intended, with Firefox, and I am not sure about Tor because that would be like bringing a gun to a knife fight. I have both websites open in another VM right now to double-check.

Attempting to acess the kmart.com.au website with Tor browser is just as pointless as with Firefox, because of the reasons I have mentionbned above. It is possible to access the index page, but try rendering a listing for a specific item or list of items and you get:
Access Denied
You don’t have permission to access “http://www.kmart.com.au/category/men/mens-active-shorts-and-sports-shorts/” on this server.

This is the same with Tor as it is with Firefox. I am glad that someone has finally resonded, even if it happened to be by email, which is certainly confusing. I shall cross my fingers that someone else might happen along this way in the next week before the thread is deleted (for reasons I don’t know) who can make some kind of normal sense out of whatever the Akamai and CLoudfLare police are doing to Qubes users in Australia.
