Whonix Tor requests update

I’m sorry, but I have up to date both whonix-gateway and whonix-workstation… but when I start the Tor browser it asks me to update in the popup… and because it’s disposable even after I click to update it and relaunch it asks again for update… so… how do I update it???

By updating the whonix templates – that should be enough:

Works fine over here. No updates pending. 14.0.3. (Maybe my machine is late on the train?)

Please mark the above link to Whonix-docs as a solution. Updated mine, too. Thank you.

All Debian-based templates are currently NOT notifying about updates (R4.2). This includes the Whonix ones. See many threads on this forum.

On another note, in general, to update the Tor Browser in the Whonix-workstation template, run “Tor Browser Updater (anondist)” from the (blue)Q → Whonix-workstation-XX menu. This updater leaves the template running, so you have to manually shut the template down before starting new disposables, in order to get the updated Tor Browser.

If tb-updater fails to install an updated tor-browser, then it’s possible to update manually in the whonix-workstation-xx terminal with (onion flag optional):

update-torbrowser --onion

If the manual update times out, repeat the command and add the --resume flag. The following link includes instructions to set the onion option for tb-updater as well.

Haven’t seen 14.0.3 in over a year. 14.5 is the current rev.
