Using a Shure USB microphone with Qubes

I have a Shure USB microphone that I have been trying to plug in to an either offline qube (to use with audacity) or a qube dedicated to Telegram. I ideally want to be able to pull it from one to another on an individual basis (i.e. completely unplugged from a VM when not in use) so not sure that the audio qube is the best solution. I have tried to get it to work just hot swapping into my VMs but it never seems to work. I don’t see it come up as an option in Audacity or in the PulseAudio controller when I plug it into a VM. Is there something I am missing? What is the easiest way/process to set this up?

Thanks in advance for your response.

On the top right of the XFCE panel, there is a USB icon with the tooltip Qubes Devices. Select it, then under the USB Devices drop-down menu, select your Shure USB microphone, then attach it to your desired qube. Once you are done using the device, follow the same instructions to detach it from the qube.

Thanks for your response. I was the first thing I tried. Multiple times. No matter how many times I attached it to a qube it was not detected by the software.

Then you need to chose it as sound source in PulseAudio/PipeWire.
Dunno if could do it in appvm.
For shure you can do it in dom0/sys-audio.

I tried going into PulseAudio and I cannot find the listing for the Shure Device anywhere under “input devices” for the qube I attached it to or under “recording” as a selectable device. It is only showing me my sound card device (for microphone input), a line in input (for which i have none) and what appears to be a link to the sound from the monitor - all of which were there before I attached the Shure microphone. For some reason Qubes does not seem to be able to detect a USB audio device. Either that or I am looking in the wrong place.
