USB headset not working in Fedora 41 qubes

Hi Everyone and good morning!

I’m working on an issue now, where my headset doesn’t work when attaching to a Fedora 41 qube. All Debian qubes do not experience this problem. I’m looking for some advice as to where to look and start troubleshooting this.

Thanks for your help!

Hi @klaus,

When you attach your USB headset to the Fedora qube, what does dmesg inside the Fedora qube say?

I do see the device attach. I get information about it that is correct, such as manufacturer etc. I don’t see any errors in attaching the device, which is a hyperx sound card.

One thing of note, while this device is attached to the F41 qube, I’m still getting audio from my speakers for sound in that qube…

Run pavucontrol in the qube (you may have to install it) and change the default output

Thanks, this was what resolved things for me. I was able to choose the HyperX as default, and tested detaching it and re-attaching it. The sound switched as expected between when the HyperX was attached and when not sound from speakers.

Have a great day and thanks!
