USB and Device assignment

Hello,

I really appreciate it if someone would explain me this.

USB Devices
From Global Config - USB Devices: showing a warning of configured policy “not recommended”, and it is confusing to me, the description says: If you are NOT using USB keyboard, mouse…etc, you should disable them here", the 3 devices " keyboard, Mouse, Touchscreen" are disabled already!!! so?

Anyway, I changed it to ask for Mouse and Touchscreen “maybe never for Touchscreen”, and didn’t touch the keyboard “disabled as it is”, after restart, I couldn’t login and had to reinstall Qubes OS.

Device Assignment
Under Device attachment policy, I made one not to connect “in case by mistake” anything to Vault.
Under Device assignment, I tried to select the USB key to always auto attach to “Dom0 or sys-USB” to avoid having it locked, but it did not allow me to, I do understand that anything you connect to Qubes OS linked to Sys-USB but I don’t know how to get my keyboard whitelisted.

At installation, I checked box to auto attach USB keyboard as I have only USB keyboard on the computer. “+ a USB wireless mouse which I approve it manually using Tab key after login”

Thank you
Qubes OS 4.3

If your only keyboard and mouse is USB connected then you need to allow it to attach to dom0 during install. Otherwise you won’t be able to login.
It’s not recommended but it’s the only way if you have such configuration.

I have done that at installation and it works fine after, just wanted to set things right to remove that warning message and block any other keyboards to be connected automatically.

If it’s r4.3 there should be a way to mark which keyboard and mouse (or any other usb device) cloud be attached. Removing acceptation to all removes it all.
