Update broke my whonix template :@

EDIT: Problem solved with a reboot :unamused: which I hate doing because now I have to spend hours reconfiguring fucking everything the way I had it… mods feel free to delete this thread now

I updated using the Qubes Updater and selected Yes to restart updated qubes… none of my whonix gateways rebooted, I get that error about qrexec 60 seconds blah blah then it sent me to read /var/log/xen/console/guest-sys-whonix.log but all I see there is a page full of errors about apparmor, like:

Job apparmor.service/start running (48s / no limit)

I tried restarting it a few times and it always seems to crash at the 48s mark. What can I do to fix without rebooting the pc?

I’ve reinstalled the template twice (once with Template Manager and once via qvm-template command) and shit’s still broken :skull: SOMEBODY HELP PLEASE S.O.S. S.O.S. :ambulance: I can’t even launch the template itself, same damn error

Good to bear you got it working. We’ll leave it up because others may also have this problem.

I’m curious as to what had to be reconfigured due to a reboot. Window positions, and the like, certainly.

Maybe this is just semantics but “reconfigure” to me means going into a lot of settings and so on; settings that didn’t persist through the reboot.

Pretty much this. I could probably figure out a way to get everything to persist but I’ve added so much crap it’d probably take a whole weekend to get it all right :moyai: until then I trust my own manual hand to recover from any unavoidable reboots. Mainly firewall rules (which I do know how to persist) and copying stuff to root drive from home in appvms before launching the services that need the stuff (cuz sometimes it doesn’t make sense to have a whole standalonevm when all I gotta do is copypaste at boot)
