Understandably so because they already have an OS on them. Let me go back to the beginning of the installer and see what it does.

So it has provisioned 1024 MiB for /boot, 20 GiB for the root partition and 3.93 GiB for the swap. It also detected the existing EFI boot partition so that’s fine.
Strangely it has assigned the rest of the space (~640GB+) to the qubes_dom0 volume group (I can see that from the “Volume Group” detail on the root partition. Will the installer take care of formatting that somehow? Because right now, I don’t have a /home partition and the available space amount makes it look like all the space has been used (not that I mind; just don’t want to be bitten by space issues later )

And you won’t need it. You’ll have LVM qubes_dom0 where all your VMs partitions will be kept, you don’t need to have separate /home partition for dom0.
