Typing Reply on Discourse is Super Slow Using Qubes-Whonix

I am typing replies far faster than they appear in the text box. Afterwards I have to wait, seeing letter by letter, three letters per second on average appearing, until everything I typed is there. The CPU also spins up to 100% while typing, and won’t settle until all letters have appeared. This makes writing posts very awkward and stressful.

I don’t have these issues with any other forum, nor any other text box anywhere. It is like there is a super slow javascript that gets invoked on every typed letter.

I am running QubesOS, and this is in a Whonix qube. It is a two year old powerful professional grade laptop with a 12 core CPU. There shouldn’t be any such issues.

Anyone else also experiencing that?

Can confirm, I am experiencing the same thing.

I’m not experiencing that. Can you test using a different browser, perhaps?

No, not using a Purism Librem 14v1-01 with Debian-12-XFCE.

I am experiencing the same thing. Sometimes i had to reload the entire reply to work. I am using a whonix qube too, but it happens with kicksecure qube running firefox as well.

Oh, interesting. I was thinking maybe it was some hardening feature in Tor Browser, but in that case it sounds more like it is something KickSecure is doing. Whonix is based on KickSecure after all.

I just cannot imagine what the OS itself might possibly do, independent of the browser used, that affects CPU usage when typing a message on a specific website.
