I have been trying to get this to work on a Fedora 42 template but I have been unsuccessful so far. I have managed to install it, but I cannot get it to run. I cannot get appVM to show it in the application list. A friend of mine set it up on a normal Fedora system and it just works normally. Can anyone offer some suggestions?
In a fedora template, run this:
sudo -i
curl -x http://localhost:8082 -o /etc/yum.repos.d/secureblue.repo https://repo.secureblue.dev/secureblue.repo
yum update
Then accept the GPG key, and run
yum install trivalent
After you stop the template, Trivalent should show up in the template applications list, and all AppVMs using this template.
Thanks for your help!
I tried that. The first command printed nothing, appeared to do nothing actually. Is that normal?
The second command printed this
Updating and loading repositories:
Repositories loaded.
Failed to resolve the transaction:

You can try to add to command line:
–skip-unavailable to skip unavailable packages
I’m afraid to say that I don’t know enough to be able to successfully resolve the situation myself.
EIDT: changed the name to
trivalent-chromium-clean-source
and that worked. Well that’s already installed as I mentioned in the initial comment.
Package “trivalent-chromium-clean-source-140.0.7339.127-878737.x86_64” is already installed.
It doesnt show up in the appVM still
the first command downloads a file and store it in /etc/yum.repos.d/secureblue.repo, it does not print anything.
What is the output of this?
dnf update
dnf search trivalent

what about the output of dnf update?
That was a massive output, whilst it did its things. It worked and updated and verified all the packages. Do you want me to paste the whole output of that here?
I need to see the output if you want me to understand why you can’t install trivalent.

Ok, nothing weird here. Did it ever asked you to accept the GPG key of secureblue?
What is the output of dnf repolist ?
Looks like this for me:
repo id repo name
fedora Fedora 42 - x86_64
fedora-cisco-openh264 Fedora 42 openh264 (From Cisco) - x86_64
qubes-vm-r4.2-current Qubes OS Repository for VM (updates)
secureblue secureblue
updates Fedora 42 - x86_64 - Updates
And on my system, I can search trivalent in the list and get some result:
dnf search trivalent
Mise à jour et chargement des dépôts :
Dépôts chargés.
Champs avec correspondance : name (correspondance exacte)
trivalent.x86_64 A security-focused browser built upon Google's Chromium web browser
trivalent.aarch64 A security-focused browser built upon Google's Chromium web browser
Champs avec correspondance : name, summary
trivalent-qt6-ui.x86_64 Qt6 UI built from Trivalent
trivalent-qt6-ui.aarch64 Qt6 UI built from Trivalent
I believe it asked me accept the GPG yes, but not today with your input here, it was the other day when I first started trying.
Repolist output:
bash-5.2# dnf repolist

copr:copr.fedorainfracloud.org:secureblue:trivalent Copr repo for trivalent owned by secureb

I don’t understand if the browser is installed… with your initial post, I was thinking about something related to the app menu shortcuts:
Yes, someone else mentioned .desktop may be missing elsewhere on the internet. I don’t fully understand how to resolve that situation either. Qubes is so stable and easy to use for me once its set up. But when I have to start messing I soon get lost.
The previous link mentions a few ideas for troubleshooting this issue. Are you able to launch the browser from a qube using the template? You can open a terminal and run the program, or use xfce4-appfinder.
No I can’t seem to launch it at all from anywhere. I’m sorry but I do not know what xfce-appfinder is. I’m afraid to say that I’m not very good at all this.
Don’t worry. xfce4-appfinder is a graphical program that you can launch from terminal. But if you can’t launch the browser from terminal it might be useless…
Are you working on a test template? If so, could you try to create a new one and follow @solene instructions?
Yes, OK. I’ll create a new template do that tomorrow. That’s a good idea.
It seams to me that you didn’t installed repository so only thing that you installed is source code not binary.
Install repository first.
I have done that, and I am still getting nowhere.
sudo -i
curl -x http://localhost:8082 -o /etc/yum.repos.d/secureblue.repo https://repo.secureblue.dev/secureblue.repo
yum update
bash-5.2# yum install trivalent

You can try to add to command line:

I just redid your instructions on a fresh template, and no. It did not ask me.
I did definitely have something installed/downloaded that resembles the browser but isn’t, so that makes sense. However, I was under the impression I had installed the repository.
This should looks like this
yum update

Is this ok [y/N]:
Could you share the content of /etc/yum.repos.d/secureblue.repo on your template?
And the output of dnf repolist too?
