I tried searching for issues involving updating the tor browser, and all of what I found said to update it in the original whonix-ws template VM.
Here are my current results:
Creating a new appVM based off of whonix-ws-16 shows me the tor browser is version 11.5.2. This is the current version of the tor browser and it says “up to date”.
When I open a disposable VM based off of whonix-ws-16-dvm (in turn, this template is based off of whonix-ws-16), the browser in my disp#### shows 11.0 as the version. It also tries prompting me to update, but this is a disposable vm which is not persistant so that does not solve my issue.
I think this has to do with how I upgraded my version 4.0 to 4.1 in place instead of a fresh installation. I changed a bunch of default disposables and template versions over from whonix-15 to whonix-16 during the upgrade process
