Tor Update failure after clean install

I have been unable to update the Tor browser from fresh install since Qubes 4.2.4. Is anyone else having this issue. Is this a Whonix issue? The down loader give me this notice

  • Index of /torbrowser is down
  • download location changed
    Please check:
Start menu → System → systemcheck
    or in Terminal: systemcheck
or in Terminal with debugging: systemcheck -v
If systemcheck reports no problems with internet activity and downloading Tor Browser keeps failing, please report a bug!
(Debugging information: curl_status_message: [91] - [Invalid SSL certificate status.])

I’ve tried updating from the terminal and seems to work, but I just find it unusual that I have not been able to upgrade from the downloader since the most recent Qubes release.

Are you talking about from within a Whonix VM? And whether you are or aren’t, why not just update from the Tor Browser itself? Meaning, don’t use the “upgrader,” but instead the feature within Tor Browser’s General Settings.

I got this error couple times recently. Was able to update by doing the cli command for updating in the ws template with the onion flag

I’m trying to update the browser from the default whonix workstation template vm. I have not tried updating from the browser since I figured using the upgrader was best practice. I’ll give this a try.

I’ve tried the cli update in past installs. Sometimes it would work and sometimes it would fail. I don’t mind updating the browser using this method or the updater from the browser, but it does seem weird when the “best” way to do things seems to consistently fail.

I’ve done it like this for a while, never with any issues
