Thunderbird absence

I just installed the Fedora 43 xfce template for Qubes 4.2.4 and ‘dnf list thunderbird’ told me that the latter was not installed. This is odd. I had no trouble installing it, of course, but is it supposed to be absent or is my template broken? As far as I know there could be other issues with it as well that I don’t see.

I can’t find any mention of such a change in the github issues or in any of the mailing lists. There were no issues during template installation.

Yes, I can confirm:

  • no “thunderbird” installed in the fedora-43-xfce template for R4.2.4, and
  • no documentation (that I can easily find) to explain this omission.

And to be 100% accurate, I’m talking about:

Qubes OS follows upstream fedora xfce on such matters, i.e. there won’t
be any particular documentation on these decisions.
You may find it upstream.

Yes, that’s the one. Thanks for the confirmation. Is there anything else that’s missing erroneously? I see that there’s no “Print Settings” in the list of available applications, but I won’t need that.

[Oops, forgot to bottom post last time. Email client defaults…]

It’s not what’s in the repo though, it’s what’s in the template. That is always a selection. And I believe that Thunderbird is in the Fedora 43 template built into Qubes 4.3.

I know that you use a Fedora template, but only FYI Thunderbird is available in the Debian template.

Side note: When you must install thunderbird manually, you might consider https://www.betterbird.eu/ instead :bird:
