The SD card is directly connected to dom0 instead of sys-usb. Why ? Isn’t it a security problem? I want to know how to configure the SD card to connect to sys-usb. I’m using a Lenovo T430 with Heads installed.

Also, disabling all the unused PCI devices in the BIOS screen will speed up operations…
I mean: “As I don’t use the SD card reader with Qubes, disabling the controller makes booting/suspending/resuming/shutdown much faster”
I read it, but it was difficult and I couldn’t understand it. That problem has been ongoing, but it’s difficult to fix, so is my understanding correct that the problem still exists?
That is correct. The problem is know from 2016, but it is hard to be fixed automatically. The solution for individual users would be forcing their PCIe SDCard controller to be always attached to sys-usb (via sys-usb settings → Devices tab).
The reason that the above could not be automated is that SDCard reader hardware manufacturers are doing two strange things:
- Some mix their SDCard reader and WiFi controller in one chip. So it can only be attached to either of sys-net or sys-usb
- Some do not properly add a device category to their hardware. So the OS has problems to automate it.
It’s solved. Thank you.
