The NovaCustom V56 Series 16.0 inch coreboot laptop is Qubes certified!

The V54 Series has a known issue in combination with Qubes OS, although there seems to be a workaround.

Correct, we will update this today. Thank you.

Is this a V56 series specific problem? OR, there is no product offering from novacustom that comes with Coreboot AND NVIDIA GPU? How soon do you think your linked issue about GPU under-powering gets resolved?

This is an issue that is specific to the NVIDIA variants of the V56 Series. It’s hard to do the NVIDIA integration since NVIDIA is arrogant, not wanting to provide the helping documentation (because we are a small organisation? Or they don’t earn money with sending docs? I don’t know). So you can say my team is figuring things out themselves, which takes way more time than following documentation. It’s extremely hard to estimate when it’s solved, it’s a matter of weeks I would say.

@novacustom A personal question on V56 specifications. I see that the M.2 slots are M Keyd. It is not specified if it is only NVMe PCIe SSDs are supported or any of the sockets support legacy SATA M.2. SSDs. Just in case some one has an old SATA M.2 drive and wants to use it in V56 laptop.

I don’t think it will work. Dasharo only integrates and tests the GOODRAM SSDs we offer, which are PCIe 4 SSDs.

This is sad. I was motivated to look into V56 series with a powerful NVIDIA graphics card for gaming inside QubesOS AND running image generating local AI models (see, “ComfyUI + FLUX”). But lack of open source bootloader (?) coreboot is a deterrent to my motivation.

Not for boot BTW. For secondary storage. What is the Intel chipset used in V56?

Ah okay. Still, I can only say that we cannot guarantee that it will work. I have searched on our forum but so far, I couldn’t find any user who has tried this.

Chipset is Meteor Lake, available CPUs are 125H and 155H.

Got it! Looking forward to getting novacustom QubesOS certified laptops with NVIDIA GPUs for gaming and local image generation AI model running.

Surprise surprise, S3 suspend-to-RAM is working correctly, with ME HAP disabled! Tested on the V56 Series (V560TU) with Dasharo v0.9.0 and Qubes OS R4.2.3.
