Hello, could someone help me with the following problem?
I’ve built a sys-pihole in standalone mode using the Debian 12 Minimal template from the sys-pihole machine, and the pihole admin page loads. However, if I use appvm by connecting it to sys-pihole via the network, I don’t get internet access. If I ping 8.8.8.8, it responds correctly, but if I ping google.com, it doesn’t work.
Does anyone know the solution to get internet access in the appvm through sys-pihole?
Hello, you obviously have an issue with DNS resolution, not with
“internet access”.
You have given no detail about how you built this sys-pihole, so it’s
hard to know what you have done wrong. What have you done to capture DNS
traffic from attached qubes and redirect it pihole?
I’ve salted this at GitHub - unman/shaker, and provide a ready
built package
The salt may help.

Thanks for responding so quickly. I happened to use your RPM package installer. I don’t know what else to add.
Obviously you didnt do anything wrong.
Can you load help from the pihole admin pages?

If you’re asking, I can access the pi-hole admin page. From sys-pihole, yes.
I meant, can you access the internet by name from sys-pihole.
Try Settings->DNS Settings->Expert(Click on Basic Button)->Interface Settings->Permit All origins
Save and Apply

thanks, it worked for me.
It would be better if this worked out of the box. (It seems to on an
upgrade?)
I’ll see what can be done.
Thanks for pointing this out.
