Sys-net unable to connect to qrexec agent

I just started using Qubes (4.2.4), and after installing it on my computer I haven’t been able to connect to the internet. The hardware itself is fine - it was able to connect to WiFi on Windows with the same machine.
Here’s the details:

  • When I’m editing the settings of sys-net, I can choose between debian-12-xfce, fedora-41-xfce, whonix-gateway-17, and whonix-workstation-17 as my templates for the VM.
  • If I choose debian-12-xfce, I have Firefox ESR, the Settings Manager, and Xfce Terminal available in the VM.
  • If I choose fedora-41-xfce, Firefox ESR shows “Application missing in template!”
  • If I choose either of the whonix templates, they show “Application missing in template!” for all 3 applications in the app menu.
  • When I’m using the debian or fedora templates, if I try to start the sys-net qube I get the message “Cannot connect to qrexec agent for 60 seconds…”
  • When I’m using either whonix template, it runs sys-net just fine, but since I don’t have access to the Settings Manager I can’t actually make any connections.

From what I could tell from other forum posts, it looks like I need to install a new template. However, I don’t have access to the internet until I have a template that fully works with sys-net. Is there a way to install a new template from a usb, or some other fix for this?

Unfortunately that experience is not necessarily transferrable due across operating systems due to proprietary drivers and/or firmware.

in settings → Applications pull the applications in “all available applications” click on “apply” then on “refresh Applications”
After that, i think it will be ok. Some applications could be in a template but not in an another one.
