It’s not about what handles choosing kernel modules. If akmod build doesn’t produce nvidia kernel module, the only option is to run nouveau, there is no nvidia driver.
Thus right now my method only works for fedora 42. Here’s a link if you want it anyway:
TL;DR For fedora I pretty much just follow rpmfusion howto, but also delete nvidia x configutation because it gets in the way on qubes.
