Sound Equalizer for Qubes...Solved

Good morning guys,

Well I am looking for some kind of “Sound Equalizer” either for my qubes “Dom0” or Template install so I can improve the quality of my music as I work. The sound at best is to much bass or some songs sound grabbled. I have tried “Pulse-audio Equalizer” in one of my Template builds, it installed but I got no GUI to adjust. I tried to get it to launch, qapeq, I get dbus errors, I tried you know pactl load-module xxx; other fixes. I kept getting no dbus module installed or running.

I tried easyeffects, that was a waste of time. I got a GUI but no presets to load or sliders to adjust, you have to download them from GitHub.

Is there some “sound equalizer” that will work with Qubes? I just want to hear better music

Thank you

We don’t know are you using pipewire or pulseaudio.

pactl info | grep Server

Easyeffects will be your best bet.

Server String: /run/user/1000/pulse/native

Server Protocol Version: 35

Server Name: PulseAudio (on Pipewire 1.4.2)

Server Version: 15.0.0

The music is so FLAT, sound like to much bass and missing treble.

Metallic & Slayer sound very BAD!!

JamesDSP and EasyEffects are to go. I can’t help with better than that. You should also update your pipewire. It is pretty old.

QubeOS doesn’t change the frequency profile of your music in any way (unless you choose to add your own equalizer).

I thought “pipewire” would update along with Dom0 updates, and so how do I update pipewire then?

IS JamesDSP offered for dom0?

Sorry, I have no idea. I thought you were using sys-audio, and there I have f43.
JamesDSP is available as Flatpak version

Yeah I saw that about JamesDSP, doing my research. I checked pipewire and it appears I am on the latest version for my build. I went ahead and grabbed easyeffects and have been playing around with it. It appears that have more features then I first saw and appears to be working for now.
