In Qubes OS 4.3 I’m encountering an issue where certain USB flash drives do not show up in the Qubes Devices menu.
The drives are visible in the sys-usb file manager, and I can mount them in sys-usb without any problems. Changing USB ports makes no difference, and the issue only affects specific drives, other USB drives work normally and appear in the Devices menu.
Furthermore, the issue is not permanent, some time, the system starts showing the same USB drive in the Qubes Devices menu. However, the problem recurs repeatedly with the same types of USB drives.
If the problem is related to a dirty filesystem on the affected drives, why can sys-usb still mount them successfully? And if the drive is detected and accessible in sys-usb, why doesn’t it appear reliably in the Qubes Devices menu?
