Secondary monitor doesn't work

Hello, my middle monitor won’t work, and I haven’t found any solutions.

Monitor: ASUS PG278Q 1440p 144hz monitor
Connection: DisplayPort into a GTX 1070
All monitors work fine in Windows 10

This is what I’ve tried:

  • Switching the displayport port with the third monitor
  • Changing minimum vram allocation
  • Booting with only the problem monitor (gets to the warning about USB devices unrestricted, and stays there forever until another monitor gets plugged in)

Any ideas? Thanks

Are you using the nouveau driver?

I’m using the GTX 1060 with the noveau driver, and I have no problem using 3 displays.

Yes, I am using the nouveau drivers.
The monitor doesn’t work even with the other two completely unplugged.

I’m thinking of trying the proprietary nvidia drivers, thoughts?

I am running on Qubes 4.1.1 kernel 5.15.52-1.fc32

I don’t think the proprietary driver works in dom0

NVidia driver installation fails with provided instructions #2526

Nvidia drivers in dom0 still works? (need to get a GTX 1070 off the ground)

I experienced the same issues with installing the nvidia driver, the x server fails with an out of memory error.

The nvidia driver has been open sourced and will be added to the mainline kernel in the “near” future.
