Im assuming this is a bug? When I set scaling to 2x, it makes things 2x times smaller instead of bigger. Should I switch to KDE? Does it have this same issue? I prefer XFCE.
Maybe play around with DPI settings, might be a workaround.
Have you tried setting the scale via xrandr? Not sure if there is a difference between that and the settings gui I assume you are using. But worth a try maybe.
