Restore/TimeShift for Qubes

It would be nice if there were something like this for any problems just with dom0.

You can rollback updates using the dnf command.

Can you be more precise about what you want?
Do you want to protect system files and settings, or do you want
complete system restore?

I never presume to speak for the Qubes team. When I comment in the Forum I speak for myself.

I would like something so that if Qube doesn’t run after an update, because something new suddenly has a hardware compatibility, that there’s a restore point so I don’t have to spend 20 hours reconfiguring a new setup.

So it would be nice if I could select dom0 and select the qubes I want to also create a restore point. The worst thing that’s happened in Qubes is a change so bad nothing loads. If I can get back to an older version of dom0, sys-net, sys-firewall, and sys-whonix, I can probably figure out what happened. If I am stuck in command line grub to figure out what went on, it’s faster for me to just spend the 20 hours.

A selective system restore, choosing qubes to include and including dom0, would make things easier. Sometimes Qubes will keep an older kernel and when problems happen, if you go back to the old kernel it works. But I’ve messed up Qubes badly enough before it just won’t run.
