I recently split a Qubes box (R4.2) into 2 separate machines. This entailed adding a KVM to toggle between the 2 machines. After adding the KVM, I occasionally get an issue where I can’t click on anything on one of the boxes after switching to it. I found a work around for that in the forum (switch to a VT and restart the WM manager), but after the WM restart, my sound no longer works until a complete reboot.
I expect the loss of sound is due to something not being routed properly in the sound system after the restart of the WM. Restarting the affected machine is a long process, and frankly the issue happens too often to use restarting as a way of dealing with it. So I am wondering if I am able to ‘reconnect’ the sound by restarting something in Dom0 or the affected VM?
