Random Reboots/Power Failures on Thinkpad W530

On my W530, when using qubes, I get random reboots/power failures, and I can’t find any useful logs, and I am kind of at a loss, but I figured I

Seemingly at random, it will randomly power off and on again, but sometimes it will stay on for hours even while using various qubes and software. I have not had the issue yet today, and it ran from yesterday afternoon to this evening without powering off, but it was just idle, and I anticipate it happening again.

Tried updating/rolling back stock bios, and I flashed 1vyrain again but the issue persisted through all of it. Also tried repasting my cpu, and testing each memory stick.

I had a long installation bios trying to get my encryption configuration to work, and I don’t believe it ever shut down on the installer, nor the bios screen, but I think it happened once immediately after booting and loading initramfs for decryption.

You can disable HWP for a test, maybe it’s causing this issue for you:

No luck, I think I am going to try a new motherboard. Thank you though!

Could anything else in my xen cmdline such as max memory or max frames be causing the shutdowns?

I don’t think so.

Maybe it’s some hardware issue, try to boot from some Linux Live and run some stress test there for a test, run memory test etc.
