Qubes VMware installation failed

i am trying to install Qubes on VMware Workstation (17).
i can’t start the installation, and getting error message :
error: file ‘/boot/grub2/i386-pc/efi_gop.mod’ not found
error: file ‘/boot/grub2/i386-pc/efi_uga.mod’ not found

disk space : 128 GO

any idea from where the problem is coming ?

I’m sure you’ve had many people already tell you that this is “not supported”. If you haven’t, a quick search of this forum will tell you why.

But if you understand all of this, and still wish to proceed, then read on.

VMware is reporting the incorrect type of virtual UEFI to the ISO.

what made me try is that i saw a youtube video of person how was able to install Qubes under VMware machine .
yeah, i saw some post reporting that we can’t install it under VMware machine, but didn’t read why .
could you explain me what you mean by :

also i already switched to UEFI boot , and this time VMware was not able to locate the boot media and redirect me to Boot Manager .

Double-check, that the ISO image is still attached.

yeah its well attached and i checked it each time when i try to install .

Fair enough. It’s definitely a flex if you can get it working

Those grub modules aren’t anywhere in the ISO, hence why they weren’t able to be loaded. But the ISO should still continue booting…

any other solution to add the grub module in the ISO?? still stuck

I don’t think the modules not being present as part of legacy boot is the problem here. I’m also getting these messages, only for a split second, and then the GRUB2 menu launches automatically, prompting me for installation. Tested on VMware Workstation 17.6.1.

The problem should be somewhere else, I think. I’d first check if the installation ISO checksum matches, as to exclude any download error possibilities.

thank you for the hints, i have checked the integrity of the file and its ok.
the issue is somewhere else.
i will try to use removable device instead
