If you hover the mouse pointer over [x] element of firefox tab,
there will be tooltip/balloon rectangle with the text “Close tab”.
Somehow one such tooltip stays on the desktop above other windows and interfere with UI usage.

interfere with UI usage.I have seen such artifacts with Qubes, traditional Linux distributions and
Windows. Imperfections of the window manager, particularly usually
triggered in the border area between two screens.
Hovering the mouse over the active element that triggered the tooltip in
the first place sometimes helps.
