I have been very new on Linux systems and I have been using Mint Cinnamon for couple of months. Also I am not expertise about, I am learning. So, I have been trying to install Qubes several times on my computer compatibility test have run during installation and no issue all green. but after first installation complete, installation would not restart the computer and when I let it re-start it has been not completed the initial installation.
after I manually forced to restart computer, I have never seen the screens down below which have been instructed by Qubes OS web side. then, it complete the installation suddenly with no signs, but nothing work, even terminal screen to make something.
I would like to use Qubes but why can not install that? I have tried several download sites, several times to create ISO to USB but did not work.
My computer is:
Lenovo ThinkBook 15 G2 ITL
11th Gen Intel© Core™ i5-1135G7 @ 2.40GHz × 4
Graphic: Intel Corporation TigerLake-LP GT2 [Iris Xe Graphics]
Samsung 500 GB, 8 GB Ram

Thank you FranklyFlawless. So there is no solution for me, am I right? SO Is there any other distros like Qubes? as secure as Qubes which I can use securely in daily and Business?
Try reinstalling Qubes OS using the latest kernel as mentioned in the HCL report.
I will try one more but I had tried to install with latest kernel 2 or 3 times before, it had not worked. I will try again and inform you
Dear FranklyFlawless,
It did not work. Same result. Until developers solve the issue I have to wait.
Is there any other distros like compartment style security like Qubes which I can try?
Hi Godin
Can you elaborate on the:
and
?
Sure,
After first installation completed, Qube installaation drive me to re-boot the computer and when I did reboot, screen stay in black and with mouse’s arrow cursor. THen I have to force for rebooting by pressing on/off button to restart computer.
So, later GRUB screen coming with choice UEFI or Qubes installation and Advance Qubes installation then I choise qube installation.
But, after hard drive encription password and user password it jump to normal start it passes the initial configuration screen.
When sytem starts nothing starting. even terminal screen, dom0 even not working. I can only on or off the computer.
I have tried many times, with latest kernel, without kernel, repair installation nothing changed.
Hi Godin
When you have the GRUB menu, try and hit e to edit the boot options.
Locate where it says quiet
and just remove the quiet
part. After that, you should be able to boot by pressing F10 or Ctrl-x
(IIRC).
This should give you more information about the boot process … also what works and what fails.
Hello ChrisA
I have tried what you recommended me but unfortunately it did not work.
the initial configuration process not starting. If there will be any other recommendations from enyone I will go with another distro until New released or update.
Thanks alot for your help…
Hi Godin
My suggestion was intended to get more information about what you actually get/see – I never expected it to magically show the “Initial Setup” …
Without knowing/understanding what you actually get, it’s difficult to give any useful suggestions … :-/
Thanks alot ChrisA, have installed that May be 10 time and coupl of time I have sweept Hard Drive from bios too. But nothing happened. After First installation it should jump to initial configuration but it has not. It juat boot up with no configuration and it dalaşı es not let me make any changes.
Main menu is not working only dom0 comes but rest is not.
Hi Godin
Oh – so the system actually shows “finish” (or “reboot”?) after copying the files to the harddrive and then reboots (maybe wait with a “press enter”?) … and after the reboot, GRUB shows the menu and allows you to boot (?).
Do you get all the way to a text prompt (or a graphical interface)?
Yes I did also ones or twice wait without doing anything ones I waited more than half an hour, hit the Enter couple of times, space bar, some other keys too. But nothing happened.
Okay - so the “Why doesn’t it reboot by itself” is still a mystery. :-/
After the reboot, what does it show then?
I am following up and insist on qubes soner or later I will use it. When ever New released (I dont know when) I will try again.
Now I am going on with Open SUSE Thumbleweed…
Hi Godin
Without knowing the situtation the installer landed you in[1], I can’t give useful advice. :-/
You could take a look on the development ISOs for Qubes OS 4.3 – there are links in posts on the forum[2].
The missing Initial Setup screen can have different reasons and solutions. :-/ ↩︎
Index of /qubes/iso-testing/ – remember it’s testing and not a release. ↩︎
Hello ChrisA,
This has become a little late reply but I have to struggle with re-install Qubes again and again. First install Open SUSE Tumbleweed, it was great, then I could not stay with hands are crossed. With my limited and in-sufficient knowledge, I have try to install VM and try to create different VM’s to provide my self some secure and unsecured VM’s. Those some of them for banking, some of them private, some of them social media etc. But, by my mistake and I crashed my computer because I have try to install Xen and KVM same time.
SO, then again, I have tried to install ones more but this time Eng language with Turkish key board (I am from Turkiye by the way), interestingly, it installed without any issue.
There might be any bug, fault or something? how can we check this out?
Hi Godin
I only know OpenSUSE from the name … so I don’t know how it should work. :-/
