Qubes Installer Stuck at "Configuring alsa-sof-firmware.noarch" for last 8 hours

I am re-installing Qubes OS. I rewrote data for the whole hard drive when formating it. I created 2 storage partitions before launching the installer and left a large size of the hard drive empty for the installer to auto install onto the remaining free space when selecting “automatic” during installation steps. The same iso, the same hard drive, the same usb stick the iso is on that all installed without issue the first time around no longer is the case.

And its not like the screen is unresponsive. Mouse works, loading spinning icon next to the word “Configuring” still spins, what gives? I don’t want to have to delete the partitions, whole reason I deleted my Qubes install to re-install. Progress bar is about 1/12th of the way complete.

Did your check that your installation media is not corrupted? Did you run “Test media and install Qubes OS” GRUB menu entry?
You can switch to the console on another TTY using Ctrl+Alt+F2 in the installer and check the logs to see what’s going on.

For those with same issue: Unplug your headphones before installation. I looked up the package name it got stuck on and its an audio package. I did not have my headphones plugged into the audio jack when I installed it the first time around. Second time I did, and now I removed it again and fresh installed and it worked without a problem.

Why does linux always have to have the worst bugs we shouldn’t even have to worry about, sigh…
