Maybe someone can explain to me what I’m doing wrong. I set the onion address to be generated using mkp224o with a prefix of 8 characters. The speed is 12 million hashes. I set the generation in dvm VM. It’s been 5 days now, but the address still hasn’t been generated. Maybe I shouldn’t have done this in dvm? Or are there any special features of onion address generation in Qubes?
That’s just how long it takes. If you’re worried you’ve configured something wrong, stop it, and set it to two or three or four characters for the prefix so you can get an immediate hit. (And since it’s all random guesses anyway, you don’t “lose” any progress by stopping/interrupting it.)
I’m not sure what turned out to be the solution to the problem in the end, but I eventually created StandaloneQube and already started generation in it. Within two days, I received as many as 4 addresses with a prefix of 8 characters.
