I was experimenting with different appearance settings and after looking at different color theme options, I can’t get back to the default.
I am trying to get back to greybird light grey and instead the panel is very dark.

Go back to Adwaita and then to theme of your chosing

It doesn’t change the panel. Nevermind, it was in dark mode.

I’ve had it when used xfce-theme-manager - one manager change everything that can be changed so crux theme which normally is seen in window manager themes, changed me not only windows decorations but colors of desktop and panel.
I was forced to go to panel settings to set my panel to dark again. But now I’m unable to change icons from gui.
Did yoy used something not default as I did?

I am not sure, I kept trying different things but I also was in dark mode and that was part of the problem. The problem resolved after I read your answer, so that’s why I marked it as the solution. I am not sure what I did.
