Remarks

  • Installer worked with no tweaks for both UEFI and BIOS.
  • TPM works and can be re-owned by anti-evil-maid-tpm-setup
  • Wifi, Ethernet, and Mobile broadband work after passing internal WWAN device from sys-usb to sys-net (tested with Verizon SIM).
  • No USB 2.0, couldn’t get anti-evil-maid on USB flash drive to work

Note to some users: CF-54 is a wide product spec and many sub devices have TPM 1.2 or TPM 2.0 firmware, depending on model.

AEM requires 1.2

note: on some chips it is possible to downgrade TPM firmware from 2.0 to 1.2 depending on manufacturer support. Or you could pitch in and make AEM compatible with 2.0?.

The tpm can be downgraded from 2.0 to 1.2 using the utility provided by Panasonic:

Note that Panasonic recommends updating BIOS and EC firmware to their latest versions before performing the downgrade.

Based on my experience, you should temporarily install Windows 8.1 instead of Windows 10 to do these updates. While I did not have to downgrade the TPM on my unit (as it was already 1.2), my unit did have a TPM firmware update available. Due to changes in how the TPM is handled in Windows 10, I had to clear and then re-own the TPM using the tpm.msc program built into windows 8.1. Make sure to backup the owner password at the end of the ownership process (as the update utility will ask for it) and then run Panasonic’s firmware update utility.
