NVIDIA 4070 GPU Passthrough and DirectX Performance

,

Hello everyone,

I have an NVIDIA 4070 GPU passed through to a Windows HVM. I’ve noticed that games using DirectX 9 run smoothly, but those with DirectX 10 or higher exhibit significant lag. Additionally, I attempted to run the FurMark benchmark and encountered an error stating that only OpenGL 1.1 is available, while OpenGL 2 is required.

I have tried using both the Windows installed GPU driver and the latest NVIDIA driver, but neither improved the situation. From what I’ve read in the FAQ, hardware acceleration is not supported in Qubes. Does this limitation also apply to a GPU that is passed through to a VM? Any insights or advice on how to improve performance with DirectX 10+ games would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

I have the second gpu connected to a second screen, however the windows vm is only shown on the display connected to my primary gpu.

Are there any additional modifications that i need to do in dom0 so that the output of the gpu is directly shown?
