Notebook compatibility: Intel (Intel Core Ultra 7 155H) or AMD (AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS)

Hi, I am planning to buy a new notebook and move to Qubes. However, I am a bit worried about compatibility issues.

I was planning to buy a TUXEDO InfinityBook Pro 14—Gen9, which can be either Intel (Intel Core Ultra 7 155H) or AMD (AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS). Are there any compatibility reasons for choosing one or the other?

yes tongfang gx4idl with ryzen 7 8845hs currently crashes xen because of iommu init. marek suspects a misalignment between IVRS tables between xen and physical table (or something like that)

neither xen 4.17.4 no 4.18 (via alpine) booted so far only disabling iommu or x2apic got me further though of course qubes isnt usable this way.

i will try to inestigate further by buiding an alpine iso with xen 4.19, maybe xen isnt ready for this new processor.

so fare the bios from the vendor i used (skikk) couldnt tell if iommu was enabled or not. yet fedora on bare metal told me the machine had IOMMU and AMD-v

i will let you know if i made any success.

if you happen to buy or contact tuxedo computers you might can ask them prior if iommu is disabled. (thanks)
