Hello!
You’re welcome!
What was the message? This is actually quite an important piece of information…
So no display at all?
I don’t have enough information to give an accurate disgnosis, but it sounds like you might have shorted your board somehow.
Can you provide any other information so we can better help you?
the message I have not able to read all because is flash to fast. but. I think he says something about xen hypervisor.
about the display nothing appears but there is light on display when power button click and the Esc & Caps have light too but don’t respond they stay light up. Besides that everything work fan, ram, SSD etc.
Ok, so let me see if I have this straight:
- You have an installation of Qubes OS on an external hard drive
- This installation seems to boot fine on one laptop (Machine A)
- You then moved it to another laptop (Machine B) and tried to boot it
- On Machine B, you received an alert “about the Xen Hypervisor”, and this flashes on the screen so fast that you are unable to read all of it
- You then get a black screen, and the keyboard becomes unresponsive
If this is all accurate, I now have some more questions for you:
Question | Why are you asking this? |
---|---|
Are you able to reveal any hardware info (CPU, motherboard, BIOS, laptop model, etc.) about Machine A and/or Machine B? | It is possible that Machine B might not have the hardware capabilities to run Xen, or that they are not enabled in the BIOS |
Does any other OS (Linux, OpenBSD, Windows, etc.) boot successfully on Machine B? | I’m trying to determine if any of the hardware is faulty |
How far into the boot process do you get before the lock keys’ LEDs freeze and stop responding? | I’m trying to figure out what component is causing the system freeze |
At this point, it doesn’t sound like a hardware issue. It sounds more likely that you’re trying to run Qubes OS on a machine that doesn’t have the hardware for it.
But I’ll wait for your response before I confirm that…
Question 1: My Machine B info lenovo v14 g2 alc.
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5500U
GPU AMD Radeon Graphics
RAM: 8GB soldered

Question 2: No, Tried to boot with windows noting comes up.
Question 3: When power button click they light up and freeze, the display doesn’t show anything not even the bios, is stay black screen.
I suspect this is likely a hardware issue, and has very little to do with Qubes OS.
My suggestion is to check out Lenovo forums and/or the instruction manual of your device to see if there are any BIOS-specific keys you can hold down to diagnose/fix this issue.
I’m sorry, but I don’t think there’s much more we can do for you at this stage…
If you do get your machine working again, and manage to find anything noteworthy in the Qubes OS logs, please upload them. They might potentially lead to a bug fix
