Hi,
As I wanted to move a window to the other workspace, I clicked on “move to workspace right” and the window disapeared not to be found in any workspace.
shuttdown restart didn’t change any,
alt-tab doesn’t show it
Hi,
TY for your input.
I have no problem with “move to workspace X”, every windows goes there and I find them there.
My problem here is with the option: “Move to workspace right” (or left)
I have two workspace, and like your suggestion, my first thought was to re-enable 4 workspace (even went up to 30), hoping to find the window there, but nothing.
My workspace are 1.tasks (domU); 2.system (sys, q.manager, vpn, …)
On my Xfce and KDE the moving options cycle through all the workspaces.
If you are far Right, another “Move to workspace right” bring you to
left most.
I never presume to speak for the Qubes team.
When I comment in the Forum I speak for myself.
TY, but since I can.t reach the window, I can’t give it any cmd, otherwise I would have gave it “move to WS#1”
I don’t know where that window went, and any reboot doesn’t change any, the window is “gone” somewhere and seems to be staying there after restart
We do not now what type of window you have lost, but no window truly survives a reboot of the whole system.
The windows which appear after rebooting are only new ones which reproduce a set in a “saved session”. It is necessary for the application to be “session aware”, and for the session to be saved - then the window can be recreated. Normally the session can be saved during logout, but not always during reboot, I believe. (I avoid saved sessions, so I am not 100% sure)
If you think a window is hidden, it is normally possible to see it in a list obtained from the window manager. I think I have used wmctrl for this. In Qubes-os the WM is in the GuiVM, I think - normally Dom0.
TY,
The window was the sys-vpn one (standalone)
I’ve reinstalled the entire system since, as I never managed to get it back.
alt-tab didn’t show any, qube-mgr didn’t show any solution, but the window opened at boot, and hidded somewhere.
I will never know …
