Mouse not working on Anaconda

I’m trying to install qubes R4.2.4 on a Dell Latitude E5540. I checked the requirements and HCL so I think it should work on my laptop but I’m stuck on the anaconda language setup page with the mouse and screen frozen(tab doesn’t work).

Your help is greatly appreciated!

What’s your CPU model?

I used lscpu and it returned
Model: 69
Model Name: Intel(R) Core™ i7-4600U CPU @ 2.10GHz

Though the minimum required ram is 6G, I have 8Gs could that be the issue?

This CPU is supported.
Try to switch to the console TTY in the Qubes OS installer using Ctrl+Alt+F2. You can switch back to the installer GUI using Ctrl+Alt+F6.
Did you verify that your installation media is not corrupted?
The default installer boot option “Test media and install Qubes OS” should check it. Did you run it? Was the test successful?

I tried all the available options and I also tried the installer on another supported device which worked fine.

Is it mandatory to run it for security?

I solved the issue. Here are what I did:

  1. Changed the usb stick
  2. Tested the stick using the “Test media and install Qubes OS”. This didn’t install Qubes.
  3. Install Qubes without testing.

However, I now have new issues after I decrypt the disk I get a “You need to regenerate initramfs” and “Check journalctl”

The test is needed to make sure that your installation media is not corrupted. Corrupted installation media could lead to random problems with your installation or installed Qubes OS that will be hard to debug.
Verify that your installation media is not corrupted so we could rule out problems caused by the corruption.

Did the test fail?

No. After the check is successfully completed, my mouse and screen froze on anaconda installer. Ctrl+Alt+F2 didn’t work. I restarted the laptop and tried install without check option which worked.

It could be a problem with your hardware. Try to run a memtest and a CPU/GPU stress test.
