Main template - debian or fedora

I’m upgrading from 4.0.3 with clean iso install. I’ve noticed others in forum speak of their main template. Are they talking about DOM0 template? Is that an option in the installation? because my old version, I think was based on Fedora 26 by default. What would be the advantages/disadvantages of each?

Also, what are the newest versions of Debian & Fedora supported in 4.1 Beta?

Not, it’s not possible to change the OS in dom0 at the moment. See in the link which Fedora versions are supported by various Qubes versions.

AFAIK by “main template” people typically understand the template which is used for most of their VMs.

welcome.

4.03
dom0 is fedora25, templates are: fedora-33 (fedora 34 is testing, but it works), debian-10 (debian-11 is not there yet)

4.1
dom0 is fedora 32, templates are: fedora 34 (I think, not sure), debian-11

There are community templates: arch, ubuntu, gentoo, centos and whonix (are there more?)

regards

FYI, there is no such thing as a “dom0 template.” Dom0 is not based on any template.
