Sys-gui in 2025?

sys-gui in 2025 is stable enough to use everyday seriously? I don’t see anyone talking about sys-gui since 2023. Very strange tbh. I used to use sys-gui in 2022, but it had a lot of bugs.

Finally got sys-gui-gpu working - very limited functionality

Following GUI domain | Qubes OS I finally got sys-gui-gpu working on r4.2. This is on a single GPU Intel 11th gen NUC. Additional to what the above doc says I had to blacklist the PCI IDs (GPU, Audio and maybe GNA) to get it working and to manually add the Audio pass-through as it would complain about non-supported FLR. Now lightdm in sys-gui-gpu starts, but the experience is VERY limited: (usb attached) keyboard mouse didn’t work (had to use qvm-usb to hand them to sys-gui-gpu) all dom0 fun…

Problems with settin up sys-gui-gpu

I have a Novacustom V56 without a Nvidia GPU, so only iGPU. I ran the following commands as described in the docs to create sys-gui-gpu: sudo qubesctl top.enable qvm.sys-gui-gpu sudo qubesctl top.enable qvm.sys-gui-gpu pillar=True sudo qubesctl --all state.highstate sudo qubesctl top.disable qvm.sys-gui-gpu sudo qubesctl state.sls qvm.sys-gui-gpu-attach-gpu After all states ran successfully, I checked if default_guivm was set to sys-gui-gpu and it wasn’t.
